wetlands

areas of land that are coverd with wqter for at least part of the year; two main types of freshwater wetlands - marshes  ( non woody plants) and swamps ( woody plants or shrubs): important enviromental function for feeding and spawning, and provide homes for migratroy wildlife; wetland vegetation traps carbon and removes pollution from the water, control flooding
