the introduction of chemical, physcial, or biological agents into water that degrades the quality of water and affects the organisms in it


watershed

the entire area that is drained by a river; the Mississippi watershed extends from the eastern edge of the Rocky mountains to the western edge of the Appilation mountains - excluding the Great Lakes region
