Quest 2: Cloud Saving
Secret Agent Briefing
You’re at your best friend’s house. You’re on their computer and want to show them an awesome site you discovered. However, you can’t remember the web address and your Google search isn’t finding it.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Your computer crashes and you've lost all the bookmarks or favorites stored on your computer?
WHAT COULD YOU DO TO PREVENT THIS?
When you save your bookmarks to Delicious, Diigo, or other online bookmarking site, your favorite web sites are stored online in “the cloud.”
Your task is to learn how to do this, and add to the Secret Agent Intelligence Database and share it with all the other Secret Agents.
Steps:
1. Go to your Agent Intelligence Database (Delicious or Diigo) and log in using the account you created in the previous Quest.
2. Save between 6-10 sites that are interesting, to your Secret Agent Intelligence Database.
Find school appropriate websites that you might need for Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, Science, and any of your electives. You may also choose topics that are interesting to you such as horses, sports, cars.
3. Use 2 or more different tags appropriate for Each Site
What are Tags?
A tag is keyword, term or description that is assigned to a piece of information. Each piece may have multiple tags. For example the pen in the picture could have the tags Pen, Marker, Sharpie, and Purple.
What other tags could you give the marker?
Tags in delicious and diigo help us sort bookmarks and to find websites at a later date.
4. In each description field write 2 – 3 full sentences that describe what resources are available on the website you are saving.
Delicious Example
Use the search box in Delicious or Diigo to find existing links about cloud computing
Save a link about cloud computing from another agent to your account.
Join forces with another agent by finding another agent in your Training Unit (your class).
Go to your Secret Agent Intelligence Database account and take a screen capture showing your links. Save it to your Secret File Space. (Check with your SSI Chief)
Completing this Quest
By completing this assignment you are certifying that you have joined the Secret Agent Intelligence Database, you have added at least 6 links to the database, you saved a link from someone else, you followed a fellow agent, and you saved a screen capture to your Secret File Space.
