6.1 Module 6 Overview

Introduction

Module 6 continues to develop your knowledge about the nine categories of best practice instruction as defined in the "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works, 2nd ed." pedagogy and your application of the ISTE Standards-T. In this module you will be reviewing the four categories of best practice instruction that are part of the Orange Zone: Helping Students Develop Understanding. The four categories in the Orange Zone are Cues, Questions and Advance Organizers; Nonlinguistic Representations; Summarizing and Notetaking; and Assigning Homework and Providing Practice. Tools and ideas for integration into the classroom will be presented to support the categories.


Goal

Prepare teachers to implement the best practice recommendations for integrating technology in the Orange Zone: Helping Students Develop Understanding


Learning Objectives

After completing this module, the educator will 

  • Know the strategies within the four categories of best practice that comprise the Orange Zone: Helping Students to Develop Understanding;
  • Understand the classroom recommendations for each category;
  • Make connections between and among the categories and strategies, and the technology tools that support them;
  • Transfer the learning into specific changes into pedagogy that will be applied in the classroom.


Module Outcome

Participants will integrate technology tools and resources into classroom practice and reflect on the implications.
