Part 1 (suggested time:  70 minutes)

Your assignment:   With soaring gas prices, political pressure to reduce dependence on foreign oil, and environmental demands to reduce carbon emissions, there has been a significant push for the development of alternative energy sources within the United States. Wind energy is the fastest growing source of domestic alternative energy in Michigan; however, it has not been a popular solution for all. Many people have strong feelings for and against wind farms. The conflict between pro- and anti-wind groups has resulted in lawsuits and created profound disputes between neighbors.  You will read four articles and watch a video which present arguments for and against this idea.  You will then write an argument essay in which you argue for or against whether energy companies should be allowed to develop wind farms in Michigan.

     3.      Plan and write your essay.

     4.      Revise and edit your essay.
