Stone Fox
There's just no stopping Little Willy. Determined to keep their farm going--and to give his ailing grandfather a reason to live--the ten-year-old boy hitches his dog, Searchlight, to the plow and harvests the whole potato crop.
Now little Willy needs five hundred dollars to pay off ten years' back taxes, or the farm will be taken away from them. Dauntless as ever, he stakes everything on one wild hope: That he and Searchlight can outrun the best dog--sled racers in the country--including the legendary Indian, Stone Fox. But the hugh mountain man is every bit as intent on winning the big prize money as little Willy is. And he and his five beautiful Samoyeds haven't lost a race yet..

Learning new words is key point to reading. So what I would like you to do is the same reading strategy we have been practicing. I want you to skim each page, while looking for words you don't know. I want you to find 5 of the words and add them to our vocabulary word collector. Vocabulary word collector is the next task on the Stone Fox Moodle.
Type the word you find in Concept as well as YOUR NAME and then in the box below type the definition. To get the definition use the context clues of the words around it or open another tab and find the actual definition at dictionary.com. You may also write the word in a sentence.
Now it's time to draw a picture of the setting with all this description.
We will use the drawing tool on the computer called Paint. You go to the start menu. Click on Accessories. Select the Paint. When you are finished drawing the setting. Save it or copy/Paste it in Edmodo for everyone to see.
Here are some tools you can use at home to get some extra credit. Post what you create for all to see on Edmodo:
Your vocabulary for Chapters 1-4 are found in the program Spelling City. There are assignments there for you to practice your new words.

Create your own "cube" about the story. Choose to write a blank one based on the events that have happened so far or the character little Willy. You will use the bloom's verbs to help you write each square when you can. Also, use transition words to show what happens first, second, next, etc. You will need to have two windows open. You could actual open a third window tab and google "transition words".
